Pine River Elementary readers were so excited to see the new Moxy Maxwell books they have been waiting to check out from the library!

Ms. Heider's very smart Young Five students enjoyed their math lesson outside today! The kids did an amazing job learning new material, practicing this new skill, and being respectful! I love that our teachers utilize our space throughout their day!

Ms. Collison and Mrs. Stevens extended their time at Chippewa Nature Center last week after their program about plant classification. They ate lunch outside, visited The Woods Nature Play Area, and explored in the meadow. It was such an enjoyable day!

Our 5th grade students and their families had the opportunity to participate in a Vernal Pool Patrol on Friday evening. This fun activity was led by Lindsey Harrell from Chippewa Nature Center and Autumn Baker from Chippewa Watershed Conservancy.

Pine River Elementary's Girls on the Run program had a super fun themed practice where the group was able to embrace their inner Taylor Swift. The girls dressed up as their favorite Taylor Swift album and even exchanged friendship bracelets. While they ran, they listened to Taylor Swift music. Mrs. Hedlund's BCEL Kindergarteners enjoyed a beautiful day at the Saginaw Children's Zoo yesterday!!! Lots of fun was had exploring all that the zoo has to offer!!!!

BCEL students worked really hard today helping Mrs. Pretzer spruce up our pollinator garden. Students also recorded all the living things they found as they were racking and pulling weeds. The kids did such a great job asking questions about the plants they were taking care of, the living things they found, why we needed to pull weeds, how the mulch was helping, and lots and lots of other questions and rich conversations! I am so proud of the ownership these kids have for our school and our nature spaces! Thank you to Mrs. Pretzer for organizing this day! It is looking beautiful!

Congratulations to the BCMS Equestrian Team - MIHA District 6 Division A Champions!

Congratulations to Morgan Dukarski for reaching the Top Three in this year's middle school Battle of the Books! Morgan took second place in this year's final and earned $150 for our school library. Great job, Morgan! We are proud of you!

Mrs. Williamson, our amazing ASD teacher, and Mrs. Pretzer, our equally fantastic district nature coordinator, worked really hard on a grant to support a peer-to-peer group here at BCEL! They were awarded this grant which allowed them to purchase things to create raised gardens out in our courtyard. During recess yesterday our first peer group got together to enjoy some planting time in the sun! Peers had a great time planting, talking, giggling, and interacting with each other! Thanks for all of your hard work kids! We love these special times together!

Ms. Heider's young five students at BCEL have spend the last several week trying to hatch chicks. Well....yesterday their patience paid off when they began hatch!!! The excitement in that room is off the charts!! Welcome to the world little chicks! This has been such an amazing experience for these students to study how chickens hatch!

It's Bus Driver Appreciation Day! If you see any of these great people today, give them a shout out!

Congratulations to our fabulous Creekers who performed in the MSBOA District 5 Honor Band this weekend! They came together with band students from all over mid Michigan and learned their music to put on a concert in one day!

Reminder: this week at our home BCHS Track meet, Wednesday, April 24 we will be running the MacLachlan Mile after the completion on the meet. We estimate the start time will be around 7:40. This mile event will be in honor of long time teacher/ coach / friend, Sarah MacLachlan. We will be taking donations for the MacLachlan family life fund. Whether you want to run it or participate by walking we have a spot for you. Those planning on running will be in lanes 1-3. Walkers will have an opportunity to walk on the remaining lanes. Last evening or Board of Education recognized Mrs King and Mrs Brown as Lancers Leaders. Both are outstanding members of our Creek team! Congratulations Mrs Brown and Mrs King!

This evening our new teachers had a chance to hear from a panel of veteran Bullock Creek teachers. Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences with our group!
