August 1, 2024
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year. I hope everyone is enjoying the final weeks of summer and looking forward to beginning school on August 20th. As you plan your next few weeks, let me provide some important information and dates for your calendar.
Athletic practices and training have already begun for many of our students. The next big step towards the start of the school year is schedule pick-up. As you will notice, the schedule pick-up/orientation day will be divided by grade level. These events are designed for students and they are encouraged to attend, however, these are not mandatory. Unlike schedule pick-up, New Student Orientation (August 13th @1pm) is designed for both students and parents.
Below are a few of the important dates that families should add to their calendars.
1. August 13th – Schedule Pick Up (sophomores, juniors & seniors) from 10am-12pm in the Main Gym. Parking pass forms will be available at this time at a cost of $30/year. *Yearbooks will be available for pick up for those students who have pre-ordered them.
2. August 13th – New Student Orientation in the Media Center from 1pm-2pm. This is designed for any freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior that is new to the district. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the high school, tour the building, ask questions, and pick up their schedule and locker assignments. If parents/students would like to meet individually with a counselor, please contact the Counseling Office at (989) 631-2418 ext. 1509 to set up an appointment.
3. August 14th – Freshman Orientation from 10am-11:30pm in the Auditorium. The morning will include the introduction of counseling and administrative staff members, schedule pick up, building tour and orientation, locker assignments, cafeteria instructions, and options for extracurricular activities. Students may enter the building through the auditorium doors beginning at 9:45.
4. August 15th – Student schedules will be available to view and download from Skyward beginning at 8am.
5. August 20th – First day of school for students.
BCHS will open for student entry at 7:20am – please do not arrive before this time.
Student day will begin at 7:53am
Student day will end at 2:38pm
As we move through the school year I will communicate important information through email. If your contact information has changed, please be sure to contact the main office to update your information in Skyward. Teachers at the high school use Skyward to keep you as up-to-date as possible. Skyward Family Access is located on our webpage under the high school drop-down tab. Also on the high school page is a link to our daily announcements. This is another great tool to keep families updated on student life.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call. Information can be found on our school website at www.bcreek.org. I am looking forward to an excellent year!
Sincerely,
Curt Moses
