She received the Discover You: Friend of the Year Award for her ongoing commitment to advancing mental health awareness through engagement with our Peer to Peer program at BCMS. A wonderful introduction was given by 8th grader, Becky Tester, which highlighted what Peer to Peer has meant to her as well how Mrs. Fermoyle has influenced her throughout her years at the middle school. Congratulations Mrs. Fermoyle and great job Becky!

In addition to going outside daily, students in our nature classrooms visit the Chippewa Nature Center twice a year. One key element to the success of these experiences is to ensure that each student has the proper outdoor gear. This winter, the family of Carolyn Mallery generously donated waterproof mittens, gloves, and snow pants. Carolyn, who had children and grandchildren attend Bullock Creek schools, devoted 30 years to the district as a volunteer, paraprofessional, and bus driver. We are truly grateful to her family for continuing her legacy of generosity.

As part of BCEL's Peer-to-Peer program, 2nd grade students engage in activities with students in our building who are in the ESA's ASD room. One day a week, Kara Schluckbier (SLP) joins the group. Along with supporting students with ASD, she works with our 2nd grade participants to understand communication and the devices used.

February 17th is National Random Acts of Kindness Day! It’s a day to encourage spreading kindness and paying it forward. Our Pine River Lancers demonstrate respect, responsibility, and kindness every day, and now we’re putting it on display. This week, students will have the chance to choose an act of kindness from a list in their classroom or find their own way to help. Afterward, they can add their action to our large poster, showcasing the many ways we spread kindness within our Pine River Family. Thank you, Monique, for helping teach our students how to show random acts of kindness!

Ms. Watkoski, student teaching with Mrs. Discher this semester, hosted a 1920’s themed party after her class read The Great Gatsby. Students donned 1920’s apparel, snacked on 1920’s foods such as red velvet cupcakes and deviled eggs, and danced the Charleston.
