First time ever! Congratulations to the Bullock Creek Varsity Jazz Band for earning their first Division I at the State Festival at Meridian HS yesterday evening!
It's spirit week at Floyd this week and these are just a few of our "Book Character Day" participants. So many cute and creative characters filled our school!
Floyd 5th graders have been collecting sap. Today they filtered and boiled several gallons of sap and turned it into maple syrup. Tomorrow they will celebrate the fruits of their labor with a pancake breakfast. If you know Mr. Wright, you know no activity is complete without a math question. 😉
Many of our Floyd Elementary families enjoyed an evening together at our "Family Game Night". The activities included board games, a scavenger hunt, STEM/nature activities, nature games, active games in the gym, and lots of laughter and great conversations.
Congratulations to the Bullock Creek Varsity Band members who performed at state Solo and Ensemble Festival this weekend! We had over 50 students performing solos, duets, and large chambers ensembles. The soloists had to perform their piece, scales, and sight read as well. Many students earned medals, and a handful earned medals in multiple events!
This evening our Board of Education honored Andrew Whittington with the Lancer Leader Award for his success in becoming an Eagle Scout! Congratulations Andrew!
These generous students had a working lunch today organizing and preparing the next batch of Creeker Coupons for their Floyd peers. Each day we celebrate safe, respectful, and responsible choices made at school and on the school bus by recognizing Creeker Coupon recipients on the morning announcements.

Oh Danny boy, the pipes the pipes are calling! This morning members of the White Pine Pipes & Drums ensemble performed for the 8th grade band students today! What a treat on St. Patrick's Day!
Jacob Wendorf and the big bird Mr. Lou E. Loon paid a visit to BCEL this afternoon to promote the Loons Reading Program all of our kids are participating in!! The Loons partnered with BCEL to help spread the love of literacy!
We loved the story Jacob read and all the interaction Lou E. had with our Little Lancers!!!

Mrs. Woods’ class 1st grade class at BCEL had guest readers yesterday for March is reading month. We were so excited to hear parents read and we were so engaged! What a great way to increase our listening comprehension skills!
Morgan Dukarski, 5th grader at Floyd Elementary, hopes to be a teacher when she grows up. She reached her goal of 450 AR points with the incentive that she could be teacher for the day in Mrs. Schroders 5th grade classroom. Today was her day to teach and she did an outstanding job!!

This past weekend, Mr. Hale and a group from Leadership Midland 22' spent the day cutting down trees at Floyd that needed to come down. They also plan to return in April with other Leadership Midland 22' members to make updates and additions to our outdoor classrooms. Thank you Rob Taylor, Shane Bradley, Robb Boerner, Dustin Neumeyer, Ryan Lee, and Tom Stoney. We truly appreciate the time and work you put into this project.
The Bullock Creek Bands performed at MSBOA District Band & Orchestra Festival this weekend at Bay City Western. The band students put on wonderful performances & all the bands earned medals! The Varsity Band received high compliments from the judges, two of which said the band brought tears to their eyes by performing a rendition of "It is Well With My Soul" without a conductor. Your band represented this school district amazingly this weekend.
The 7th Grade Band and Varsity Bands scored high enough to compete at the MSBOA State Band Festival!
Mrs. Chappel's 1st grade readers shared their character stories with Ms. Heider's Young Fivers today! Students enjoyed a story and drew the characters in the book. What a fun way to share some reading fun! Young readers learn so much from watching and listening to older readers!! Thanks for working together Mrs. Chappel and Ms. Heider! You guys are rockstars!!
Mrs. Hedlund's class enjoyed a sunny day at the CNC this morning. BCEL Kindergarten students learned all about maple syrup and the process sap goes through in order to turn into delicious syrup. What a perfect day to be at the sugar shack!!
Mrs. Korson's class kicked off March is Reading Month with "kick off your shoes and read a good book” and “travel with a story/read outside your classroom."
Mrs. Napoli's 2nd grade readers worked extremely hard on a character study unit!! To end their work they presented their "strong character" books to Mrs. Chappel's 1st graders! Visitors walked around to read book reviews, character pamphlets, and to listen to a song connected to their character. It was an amazing experience that highlighted the hard work these 2nd graders put into this unit!! Great job young readers!!! I am in awe of the work you put into this event!!!
